Dude, Sweet

They say things grow bigger in Texas, and apparently that extends the sweet flavors in chocolate creations. We were put on to Dude, Sweet by a visitor to the shop and after researching knew this was the perfect addition to Sweet Candy + Gifts. 

 From Dude, Sweet: Our first non-dark chocolate item in five years, this bar is made with a caramelized white and dark chocolate (otherwise known as a dark blond) with heavy malt and caramel notes. The togarashi is a traditional blend of Japanese peppers, white and black sesame seeds, citrus, and seaweed. This bar is savory, sweet, and spicy – it was originally made for the 2014 Aspen Food and Wine Festival.

Their story started at a Dallas dive bar called Lee Harvey’s. Chef Katherine Clapner and Redding May frequented the establishment and in 2008, Redding asked the chef to create corporate gifts. More and more chocolate creations poured out of Katherine’s kitchen and in 2008, she was a full fledged chocolatier crafting gourmet chocolates using unique combinations.
